Overview
We worked with REVOLT and PepsiCo's Starry — the official soft drink of the NBA — as it launched its "3>2" campaign with the NBA Finals. The work unfolded as a fictional origin story in which Starry's characters, Lem and Lime, convince the NBA league that they invented the three-pointer shot. By Default did the design and development of the campaign's interactive digital experience.
Approach
With the campaign already supported by major broadcast and social placements, the digital experience needed to deliver something distinct from the rest of the ecosystem. We anchored the design to a single principle: communicate in the language of the audience. Rather than a conventional editorial page, we chose a chat-first messenger format built for speed, personality, and participation. Users scroll through the narrative as Lem and Lime banter inside a familiar "group chat" interface, brought to life with GIFs, reactions, conversation bubbles, and rich interaction design. The humour resonated because the format felt genuinely native to how younger audiences consume content: fast, visual, and social. Importantly, the brand presence remained seamless, never breaking character.
Outcomes
"By Default has been an ongoing creative extension of my department. Their ability to blend art direction with functionality ensures that every project strikes the balance between creativity and audience engagement. They don't just meet creative standards. They set new ones." — Design Director, REVOLT
